Setup: First 120bpm track on as they clip in. Light road. Lights low enough that nobody feels watched while they find their legs.

How it works: Easy riding while you teach the one skill of the night: pedalling on the beat. Clap it, count it, then cue right foot down on the downbeat. Spend real time here — once the room locks in you will feel it, and so will they. Explain the ride's shape: the music climbs in steps and we climb with it, then it brings us home.

What to say

  • Right foot on the beat — when you drift, stop pedalling for two counts and rejoin.
  • Ride the song, not the rider beside you.
  • Resistance is your volume knob tonight — enough road that the beat has something to push against.

Easier

Ignore the beat entirely and just ride comfortably — the room will carry you in eventually.

Harder

Find the beat with eyes closed for ten seconds at a time.
